Couple’s 1000km Cancer Challenge | Michelle & Nathanael’s March Charge Journey (2026)

Armadale couple Michelle Chan and Nathanael Harrison are embarking on a remarkable journey this March, turning their daily runs into a mission of hope for Cancer Council Australia's 10th annual March Charge fitness fundraiser. While they are married, they are not competing on the same team, but rather, each setting their own ambitious targets. Mrs. Chan, inspired by a simple message from her sister Agnes, who works in medical research in Sydney, is aiming to run 1000 kilometers and raise $888 by the end of the month. Mr. Harrison, on the other hand, is driven by a deeply personal connection to the cause. He faced his own cancer diagnosis in 2013 and was supported by the Cancer Council, which provided him with resources and someone to talk to, helping him navigate the challenges of surgery and chemotherapy. Now, he is excited to participate in the March Charge and contribute to fundraising efforts to raise awareness about the important work the Cancer Council does. Mr. Harrison's message to others is simple: if something feels wrong, seek medical advice and advocate for yourself. Early prevention and early detection are key, as they can save lives. Beyond the physical challenge, Mrs. Chan's motivation is rooted in the long-term value of medical research, a perspective shaped by her sister's career. She understands that medical advances and research take time, and that investing in them now is crucial for future breakthroughs. This year marks a decade of impact for the March Charge, which encourages Australians to walk, run, or move in any way that suits them throughout March, either solo or with friends and family. By participating, individuals can reduce their cancer risk, promote physical activity, and help raise vital funds for cancer research, prevention, and support services.
