Disney's Animal Kingdom Holiday Treats Review: Restaurantosaurus vs. Others (2025)

Disney's Holiday Treats: Are Restaurantosaurus' Offerings Worth the Hype?

The holiday season at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is in full swing, and Restaurantosaurus has joined the festivities with a lineup of seasonal treats. But do these offerings stand out in a park already brimming with festive delights? Let’s dive in—and here’s where it gets controversial: not all holiday treats are created equal. From overly sweet concoctions to surprisingly dry 'cookies,' these treats might not be what you’re expecting.

Frozen Hot Cocoa – $6.49

First up is the Frozen Hot Cocoa by Joffrey’s, a drink that looks like it jumped straight out of a holiday postcard. Topped with toasted marshmallow, whipped cream, holiday sprinkles, a chocolate dinosaur, and a chocolate rim, it’s a visual delight. But looks can be deceiving. When we tried it, the texture was more like a milkshake than a slushy, and the sweetness was overwhelming—so much so that it left our reporter wincing. The chocolate dinosaur and bone were cute, but they couldn’t save this treat from its sugary downfall. Would we get it again? Absolutely not. If you’re craving frozen hot chocolate, you’re better off looking elsewhere.

Gingerbread Cookie – $4.99

Next, we have the Gingerbread Cookie, which is more of a misnomer than a treat. Instead of the spicy, molasses-rich flavor we all love, this 'cookie' tastes more like pumpkin bread—and not in a good way. It’s dry, leaving you reaching for a drink after every bite. On the bright side, it’s soft and adorably decorated, but that’s not enough to make up for its lack of gingerbread essence. And this is the part most people miss: it’s not just about looks; flavor matters too.

Sugar Cookie – $4.79

The Sugar Cookie is rolled in green sugar sprinkles, which are as messy as they are festive—expect stained fingers. The highlight is the dinosaur-themed white chocolate disc, which adds a cute touch. However, like the gingerbread cookie, it falls short in the flavor department. It’s simple and sweet, which might appeal to kids or those with a penchant for plain treats, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the more exciting options available this season. Would we eat it again? Probably not.

Rating out of 7: 4

All these treats are available at a kiosk near Restaurantosaurus until January 1. Compared to other new offerings in Animal Kingdom, they rank similarly to the Peppermint Ganache Brownie—sweet to a fault. However, if you’re looking for a standout treat, we’d recommend the Cranberry-Cherry Cheesecake Pop, which strikes the perfect balance of flavor and festivity.

But here’s the real question: Do these treats deserve a spot on your holiday must-try list? Or are they just overpriced, underwhelming snacks? Let us know in the comments or on social media—we’d love to hear your thoughts! And while you’re at it, here’s a thought-provoking question: Are Disney’s holiday treats becoming too focused on aesthetics at the expense of taste? Share your opinions below!
